On September 13, 1524, Francisco Pizarro went on his first expedition departing from Panama. Diego de Almagro joined him later on in the expedition, which was a failure due to rough weather, lack of food, and struggles with hostile dwellers. The outcome was that Almagro lost an eye when he was shot with an arrow. Today, places along their route are named after their status, such as Puerto deseado- desired port, Puerto del hambre- port of hunger, and Puerto quemado- burned point. Two years later, Pizarro went on another expedition with priest Hernando de Luque and again, Almagro. Francisco’s main pilot captured a raft of natives who was carrying textiles, ceramic objects, and gold and silver. He congratulated his main pilot on his success. Later on, the Pizarro family had a palace built in Trujillo, Spain. Apparently, it was constructed by the words of Francisca Pizarro.
